About Deep Springs College

Overview, location, and what makes it stand out

Deep Springs College is a two-year college in the California high desert, founded in 1917. Every admitted student receives a full scholarship covering tuition, room and board. Students work about twenty hours a week on the college's cattle ranch and alfalfa farm, and govern the college themselves through a student body that sits on the admissions and curriculum committees. Most graduates transfer to a four-year college to finish a bachelor's degree. The college admitted women for the first time in 2018.
